2020 New Zealand CLAANZ Conference

Charity Law, Accounting and

Regulation Conference 2020:

Sustainability of charities and their work

This is a statement from the Organising Committee of the Charity Law, Accounting and Regulation Conference in New Zealand in 2020. The Committee comprises individuals and members of the Charity Law Association Australia & NZ and Chartered Accountants ANZ.

The Committee is committed to delivering the current Conference as the topic, content and line-up of speakers is, again, world-class and focussed directly on current issues in the Not-for-Profit sector

Personal and organisational decisions regarding Coronavirus mean that we will not have the speakers and possibly not the attendees that we would want to benefit from the Conference. Further to this we are also very concerned about the health and safety implications to conference delegates if they attend.

As a result, we have decided to postpone the Conference until Monday and Tuesday 2 and 3 November 2020 when we hope the virus has been contained.

We apologise for any inconvenience this decision will cause but that we really feel in the circumstances we have no choice in the matter. We want to be very clear that we remain committed to the Conference and the sector and we hope and expect that we will see everyone in Wellington in November.

We will continue communicate our decisions as they are made. The Conference Website will remain but will not be updated apart from a prominent message stating that the Conference is ‘Postponed'. The CA ANZ Conference Registration page has also been closed.

Refunds are available.

About the conference

The Charity Law Association of Australia and New Zealand (CLAANZ), in collaboration with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and with support from The Department of Internal Affairs - Chartres Services Ngā Ratonga Kaupapa Atawhai

Ka mua, ka muri: Looking back in order to move forward

Is the current model of charity in New Zealand and Australia sustainable? What might the future hold for new ways of ensuring that the good work charities do in our society continues, and what shape might charities take in the future?

The 2020 Charity Law, Accounting, and Regulation Conference will investigate these and other related issues as we explore both the current ecosystem of rules and regulations that charities operate within as well as considering what they could be.

Bringing together views from across different professions within the sector, as well as providing an opportunity to hear differing perspectives, this conference will have sessions that span the usual silos. With networking opportunities and 40+ thought leaders (both local and international) gathering to speak, it is a must attend for all in the charity sector.

The future comes out of the past but will not be identical to it. The only unchanging thing is
change. Find out more here.
